In 2010 UNESCO declared Saint-Etienne as the City of Design and there is artistic inspiration and art pieces everywhere you look. You could spend a whole day wandering around admiring the city.  The Cité du Design is a university building that consists of lots of art and design expositions which are open to the public.

There are also lots of museums, two in particular that are worth looking at are – Chateau de Boutheon which is a magnificent castle with great grounds. Also the very interesting Memorial de Resistance – which talks about the Loire regions experience in WWII.

Stade Geoffroy-Guichard has its own museum, Le musée des verts. It is the first French football-related museum. It narrates the story of AS Saint-Étienne and its past glory through decades. It also hosts various interesting temporary exposition every six months.
