Kölsch beer is the tipple of choice and you’ll not lack for places to serve it. Bear in mind that it comes in 200ml glasses which are continually refilled, even without you asking. You can get it everywhere in the city, but to get in the mood for the game, Joe Champs on Constantinstraße is a pre-match favourite with hockey fans. They’ve got all the beer, tv screens and finger food you could want.
There are two bars that I specifically want to point out. First one is “Waikiki American Pizza & Sportsbar” (500m). A great place to meet hockey fans especially after a game and have a chat about your favorite sport. Great pizzas and original “Kölsch” beer, sounds like all the things you need for a great match day. Second one is called “Lommerzheim” (600m) which is a more traditional and local place. Always very crowded, but a fun place – the pub even has its own brewery!
There are places to entertain yourself on either side of the river in Cologne – and with all the options that are out there, it all just depends on what sort of night that you are after.
Places such as ‘Fruh an Dom’ and ‘Gaffel Haus’ are great examples of classic Cologne brew houses that make their own versions of ‘Kolsh’ – the beer that the city is known for. Great places to spend the day or the hours leading up to the concert.
Though if a cocktail bar is more of your scene, you have two excellent options in both Die Mumu and ONA MOR Bar.
