If you are not a regular visitor of VFL Bochum matches I recommend going to there already one hour before the game even starts. Fans in the stadium will already be singing long before the match starts. The most magical moment is when everybody in the stadium sings the club anthem right before kick-off. If you want to listen to it or even learn it by heart (the fans will love you), it is called “Bochum Hymne”. Another very popular song which is played right before the game starts is “Bochum” sung by the famous German singer Herbert Grönemeyer. 100% Goosebumps every time the play it!

Bochum do offer some tours of the stadium that only cost €5! You get to go behind the scenes and see the VIP areas, the press room, and of course the home and away changing rooms! The tour lasts a little over an hour and is worth doing for the price! Contact the club in advance to check the availability and schedule of the tours.

While it often doesn’t pay to wear other teams’ colours in the home end, there is a notable exception with VfL Bochum. They have a long-standing fan friendship with Bayern München and thus their shirts are regularly seen on the home terraces. Particularly strange, as everyone else in Germany generally hates Bayern. The biggest trouble you’re likely to find yourself in is with someone asking you if you know their Bavarian mates, or if you yourself are a Bayern fan. If you are great, if you aren’t, expect a confusing conversation.
